Porto Montenegro is a focal point for exclusive entertainment and light-hearted pleasure. On the waterfront, there is an abundance of stylish, harborfront restaurants, designer boutiques, and polished yacht broker & charterer sales offices. There is also fun to be had on a rented jet ski or by signing up for a sailing course with Goodstream or Sail Band.

Go to a Local Event
The Porto Montenegro Yacht Club plays host to some of the country’s best regattas, including the Thousand Islands Race, the Arsenal Cup, and the Fasinada Cup. Further, there are dozens of other events to celebrate the good things in life throughout the year. The Rubix Festival kicked off for the first time in 2023 and featured renowned stars such as John Malkovich.
The colorful and eclectic International Fashion Festival in July is a 3-day event and is always a hit, bringing together some of the world’s top designers and fashionistas. Worship cutting-edge designs and trends together with big industry names; Pierre Cardin, Luisa Beccaria, and Michael Cinco attended in the previous years. The afterparties are legendary.
The infamous Gumball 3000 car rally year-in, year-out makes stops at Porto Montenegro, transforming the harbor into an ostentatious playground for adrenaline-seeking entrepreneurs and celebrities. Events, concerts, and parties are organized to commemorate the arrival of the ultra-fast supercars and their eccentric owners.
In addition to these hedonistic venues, Porto Montenegro’s event schedule also includes all sorts of art exhibitions, jazz festivals, cricket tournaments (featuring Brett Lee, Darren Maddy, Brad Hogg, etc), and many more events. In winter, cozy Christmas decorations light the way for the Christmas Market organized in front of the Regent Hotel.
Charter a Yacht
The mesmerizing azure waters and dramatic coastal landscapes surrounding Tivat have long been a major draw for nautical tourists to spend their lazy summers. Chartering and luxuriating on the deck of a yacht is probably the best way to explore the wild and rugged beauty of Montenegro’s Riviera. Docked in the marina, you’ll find many charter yachts, ready to take you and your family out on an adventurous escape.
Porto Montenegro’s berths are filled with many reputable and experienced charter companies such as CharterMNE and IYC Luxury Yachts that offer a wide range of vessels – from small sailing boats and catamarans to huge, flashy motor yachts. Many of these charterers offer tailor-made day trips and crewed daytime charters with or without catering.
Take a Sailing Class
Cut through waves and wind and discover secluded coves and beaches on your own – an intriguing desire for many people. Not everybody catches the sailing bug at a young age and that is all right, sailing can be learned later in life relatively easily. Sign up for private or group lessons with a certified Recreational IYT Instructor at one of Porto Montenegro’s sailing schools.
The IYT (International Yacht Training) courses take anywhere from 3 to 13 days and often also include accommodation on the yacht. These courses are ideal for anyone aiming to obtain a skipper license which is required for boat charters. But of course, you can also just take a few hours to get introduced to the world of sailing or to improve your sailing skills.
Explore the Bay by SUP or Jet-Ski
Some of the most stunning views of Tivat’s coastline can be enjoyed from a Stand Up Paddleboard or Jet-Ski. SUPs are available for rent at the Porto Montenegro Yacht Club (PMYC) for hourly rent or day hire. When the sea is calm, it is enfranchising to explore the shoreline at your own pace, stopping at beautiful spots and refreshing yourself in the water. The best jet-ski rental is in Donja Lastva but there are also others closer to the marina.
Relax at a Beach Club
The Buddha-Bar Beach Club is famous for its striking infinity swimming pool which overlooks the Bay of Kotor. This venue is particularly popular with lifestyle enthusiasts and sits at the northern end of Porto Montenegro, therefore occupying one of themost picturesque spots in town.
Buddha-Bar is among Montenegro’s top beach clubs which should come as no surprise considering the brand’s reputation in other trendy destinations across the globe. Locals and in-the-know visitors always find an excuse to head down to this beach club for their excellent sushi, or, to just enjoy a sundowner while watching a beautiful sunset beside the gleaming yachts.
