Herceg Novi to Perast Bus

It is not as easy to travel to Perast from Herceg Novi as it might first appear: the intercity buses are officially not allowed to stop there on their way to Kotor, Budva, or Tivat – but many drivers will still let you out at the parking lot located at the northern entrance of town. This would work only for the journey to Perast, but not when departing from there.

In that case, you would need to walk 2,5 kilometers to one of the two nearest bus stops – either in Risan or Orahovac – and get on the bus there. Alternatively, take the municipal Blueline bus to Kostanjica, then walk to neighboring Kostanjica (3,5 kilometers) and take the Blueline bus towards Igalo (Herceg Novi).

The interurban route is served by a dozen operators, and buses depart every half hour from the main bus station in Herceg Novi, whereas the Blueline route starts in Igalo (from the bus stop next to the VOLI supermarket) and passes through the center of Herceg Novi. The most central bus stop finds itself adjacent to Hotel Boka’s Park. The price for a one-way ticket without checked baggage is between 2,50€ (Blueline) and 6 Euros, and the journey takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes, traffic permitting.

Perast is a stop on the local bus route from Kotor towards Kostanjica, a small coastal hamlet at the entrance to the Verige Strait. Choosing this option, you will need to change buses and walk along the coastal road to Kamenari, from where you can take the Blueline bus to Herceg Novi.

Herceg Novi to Kamenari

This route requires taking the Blueline bus from the central bus stop in Herceg Novi to Kamenari, then walking to the bus stop in Kostanjica, taking another Blueline bus towards Kotor, and getting off in Perast.

Instead of worrying about a specific timetable, just remember the “30-Minute Rule.”

  • Frequency: Buses depart every 30 minutes throughout the day.
  • Departure Point: The route starts in Igalo (Sole Mar) and passes through the Main Bus Station and the city center stops roughly 10–15 minutes later.
  • First/Last Bus: The service typically runs from 05:30 AM until 01:00 AM (Summer hours may extend slightly).
  • Cost: ~€1.50 (Pay the driver in cash).

Note: Look for the buses marked “KAMENARI” in the window. They are usually white or blue municipal buses, distinct from the large intercity coaches.
