Jaz Beach 2026: The Ultimate Guide to Budva’s Blue-Flag Giant

Beach Type Golden Sand & Pebble
Access Route Flat Drive-in Access
Best For Families & Water Sports
Sun Exposure Full Day (Open Bay)

Jaz Beach is a magnificent, Blue-Flag “all-rounder” and one of the grandest stretches of coastline on the Budva Riviera. Spanning 1,200 meters, it is a rare find in Montenegro: a beach large enough to offer a “Social” heart of music and dining while still providing “Wild” and “Nude” escapes at its furthest edges. Located just 3km north of Budva, it serves as the primary playground for families and sun-seekers looking for the quintessential Adriatic holiday.

“The horizon here feels endless. Unlike the enclosed coves nearby, Jaz offers a sense of vast open space and a front-row seat to the best sunsets in the region.”

The Local Verdict

“Jaz is Budva’s heavy hitter: vast, vibrant, and surprisingly versatile. While the central section is a social circus in high season, the secret is to head to the far southern and eastern end for a ‘Wild’ escape and the quietest swim. In 2026, leave Budva 20 minutes earlier than planned to account for the boulevard construction, and always choose a taxi over the bus to avoid the sweltering 1km walk from the main road.”

The Topography

A Beach of Two Halves

A natural rock formation divides Jaz into two unequal parts. The Northern Section is the social hub, backed by a paved promenade and vibrant restaurants. This area is perfect for families, featuring an inflatable water park and shallow, calm waters ideal for small children.

For those seeking a more tranquil or “Off-Path” vibe, the southern stretch exudes an aura of a faraway escape. Here, sun loungers are spaced more generously, and the atmosphere shifts toward quiet relaxation. If you venture to the far edges, the beach transitions into a more rugged environment, catering to those looking for a “Wild” or “Nude” experience away from the summer crowds.

Activity & Adventure

Jaz is a fun and lively destination for the whole family. Beyond swimming and snorkeling, there is a massive range of water sports, including kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and jet skis. For a bit more adrenaline, you can try parasailing or even go-karting nearby.

Divers will find Jaz to be an excellent base, with proximity to some of the region’s best underwater sites. The reefs of Cape Platamuni and the Oreste shipwreck (resting at 32 meters) are popular expeditions that can be arranged through dive centers in nearby Budva.

Access: Easy but Evolving

Unlike the steep treks found elsewhere on the Riviera, Jaz is completely flat and easily accessible via the main coastal road. However, travelers in 2026 should be aware of the ongoing boulevard expansion between Budva and Tivat. While this will eventually streamline travel, expect minor delays during peak hours.

A local word of advice:

While there is a bus stop in Lastva Grbaljska, it requires a long walk in the sun to reach the shore. We strongly recommend taking a taxi from Budva (€10 to €15) or using the large, partly shaded parking lot on-site. This accessibility makes Jaz the best choice for those with strollers or limited mobility.

Dining with Toes in the Sand

Beachside restaurants along the paved promenade of Jaz Beach offering fresh seafood dishes

Dining on Jaz is unpretentious and focused on variety. Along the small promenade, Poseidon and Kiki are household names, offering large portions of Balkan specialties like stuffed peppers and fresh seafood.

If you prefer a more modern, “Social” atmosphere, Beach Bar Jedro (meaning ‘Sail’) is the place for sundowners. Its white-canopied terrace is the perfect spot for an Aperol Spritz as the sun dips below the horizon.

Where to Stay

Because Jaz is a protected natural zone, you won’t find towering high-rise resorts directly disrupting the shoreline.

Instead, the best accommodations are either family-run institutions positioned directly on the sand or boutique options strategically located on the western edge of Budva for seamless beach access.
