If you consider yourself one of those seeking a laid-back and secluded beach experience near Tivat, look no further than Marina Beach on the sunlit part of the Lustica Peninsula. Despite its relatively small size, this beach boasts a stretch of prime Montenegrin coastline unrivaled in the area.
It curves along the southern shores of Traste Bay, a picturesque inlet, primarily known for the Lustica Bay resort. While a tiny public portion of the beach is accessible, the Marina Beach Club offers comfortable sun loungers, oversized umbrellas, and refreshing drinks and snacks.
Engulfed by rocky outcrops and verdant greenery, this beach can also pride itself on having clear, turquoise-colored water, significantly adding to its appeal. One of the best things about Marina Beach is its proximity to the Lustica Bay resort; just a short walk along the Lungomare boardwalk, while the lighthouse there is an excellent spot for an after-swim saunter.
Of course, your laid-back beach experience can only be complete with pristine amenities and a distinctive atmosphere, which you’ll both find here. Onsite, there are spotless toilets, roomy changing facilities, and freshwater showers.
Safety and Access
Coming from the coastal towns of Kotor and Tivat, the beach is a 25-minute drive away. There is a large paid parking lot near the harbor which connects to the beach via a scenic promenade. Public transport buses from Tivat can drop you off in nearby Radovici near the Lustica Bay Centrale settlement.
Marina Beach is not accessible for wheelchair users and visitors with reduced mobility. Although the boardwalk from the parking lot is paved, there is a steep wooden staircase leading down to the beach. The waters surrounding it are ideal for anchoring your boat for the day, and there is also a dock where docking is possible.
Larger yachts and boats can find mooring at the adjacent marina, and the Lustica resort also offers a water taxi service from there to the beach. Monitored by lifeguards during summer, for your and your family’s safety, you can carelessly enjoy relaxing ocean views and unwind.
Restaurants on Marina Beach
Indulge in simple yet fresh beach fare at the family-friendly Marina Beach Club. Decorated in blue and white, and with no disturbing background music, there is nothing to keep you away from cherishing this pristine setting and the easy-going lounge atmosphere.
For a larger choice of cuisines, you can access some good restaurants and cafes in Lustica Bay, like 21 Bistro next to the marina, serving fresh seafood and meat specialties, or the Spot at the Chedi, which specializes in local Mediterranean and Asian fusion cuisine.
Things to do on Marina Beach
Even though the serene beach character should leave you feeling free and easy in no time, there are always some good, more active opportunities around. Venture out to explore the shoreline by kayak or SUP, or alternatively, rent a yacht or catamaran in the Lustica Bay Marina.
The beautifulMontenegrin coastal landscape is worth ascertaining if you have the time. As you continue to leave the bay towards Herceg Novi, you’ll come across the Blue Cave (only small boats can enter), a sea cave known for its magical blue glowing – thus the name.
Further north, you’ll also find a series of smaller, pebbly beaches with great areas for snorkeling between Mamula Island and Miriste Beach. But you don’t have to venture out that far; due to much of the shoreline being rugged and wild, snorkeling is also a real pleasure close by.
But stand-up paddling and jet-skiing are probably most popular here; these and other water sports equipment are for hire at the beach bar or the marina, and you can even take sailing lessons. The area is also child-friendly and you’ll find a good choice of ice cream at the beach club and entertainment at the Promenade Kids Park.
Hotels on Marina Beach
