Traveler’s Essentials

The “Montenegro Time” Rule

Buses are rarely on the dot. In July and August, allow for a 15–30 minute buffer due to coastal traffic.

Beating the Crowds

Go before 10:00 AM. Midday buses in summer are often packed with cruise ship passengers from the Old Town.

Getting Off

Buses do not stop automatically. Press the stop button or clearly tell the driver “Perast” or “Kotor” as you approach.

Standing Room Only

In peak season, be prepared to stand for the 35-minute ride. It is a local bus, so seating is never guaranteed.

Method Est. Cost Best For…
Blue Line Bus €2.50 Solo travelers and budget seekers
Taxi €15 – €25 Groups of 4 or travelers with heavy luggage
Water Taxi €10 – €15 Panoramic bay views from the water

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this bus continue to Herceg Novi?

No. This specific Blue Line route loops between Kotor and Risan (passing Perast). For Herceg Novi, you need to catch a different intercity bus from the Kotor Main Station.

Is there WiFi or air conditioning?

Most Blue Line buses have air conditioning, but there is no WiFi. It is a short 35-minute local trip – perfect for putting the phone down and enjoying the bay views.

What happens if the bus is full?

In peak summer (July and August), buses can fill up at the Old Town stop. If it is too crowded to board, your best bet is to walk 5 minutes south to the Main Bus Station where the route begins to secure a seat.
