If it’s a distant paradise vibe you’re after, then Plavi Horizonti Beach on the Luštica Peninsula has it in spades. This Blue Flag jewel is famous for its smooth powder sand that extends for a hundred meters into the sea, making it arguably one of the most kid-friendly beach in the country.

The bay is beautifully flanked by dense Mediterranean pine forests and scenic trails that wind along the dramatic cliffs. Whether you are building sandcastles with the little ones or exploring the rocky coastline, the water quality here remains among the highest in the Adriatic. For a more secluded experience, head to the shaded tiny stretch on the western end, tucked away beneath the trees and low rocks.

Backed by ancient pine forests and wild dunes, Long Beach (Velika Plaža) is a natural phenomenon. While Budva’s Adriatic coast comes with plenty of gorgeous beaches, Jaz Beach is one of the few sandy ones; plus it has a Blue Flag status. Its almost perfectly unspoiled backdrop of green hills only adds to its appeal, creating a sense of natural isolation just minutes from the city center.

Jaz is a popular choice for locals as well, and its smooth sand and serene waters make it almost ideal for families with small children. The beach is long enough to accommodate both vibrant beach clubs with music and quiet, more relaxed zones at either end.

The beach is exceptionally well-serviced with multiple beach bars and restaurants, yet it retains a laid-back, “outdoor” atmosphere – helped by the several popular campsites located just behind the shore. For those staying in the nearby town of Petrovac na Moru, the beach is easily reachable via a scenic walking path over the hill.

Unlike many nearby shores, it is not completely plastered with sun loungers; large sections remain open and wild, allowing you to find a quiet corner even in August. The terrain transitions from small, comfortable pebbles in the north, transitioning into a nudist section with rugged rocks at the other end.

Drobni Pijesak Beach is widely considered one of the finest hidden gems in Montenegro, frequently appearing on international lists of Europe’s top coastal stretches. While summer crowds have discovered its charm, its distance from major towns has fortunately spared it from the mass tourism and over-development seen elsewhere. Set against the dramatic backdrop of crimson cliffs, Galija Beach is a high-end destination where the crystal-clear Adriatic meets luxury seaside lounging. The beach features a mix of smooth red pebbles and modern concrete platforms equipped with premium sun loungers and cabanas. It is a place designed for those looking to see and be seen.

While it is notoriously overpriced compared to its neighbors, the atmosphere, fueled by an upscale restaurant and regular live DJ sessions, makes it worth the splurge for a single day of indulgence. If you are in the Sveti Stefan area and want a sophisticated “Saint-Tropez” vibe, Galija delivers, even if the hospitality doesn’t always match the premium price tag.

📍 Location: Petrovac, Budva Riviera

Perfectly positioned between Petrovac’s main beach and the cove of Lučice, Ponta Beach Club is a hidden gem that feels worlds away from the town’s central bustle. The club features an expansive concrete terrace lined with sun loungers and one tiny, charming pebble beach that offers a unique vantage point overlooking Petrovac. It is an ideal place to soak up the sun, dive into a book, or simply enjoy a coffee while watching the Adriatic.

The location is excellent, requiring a walk through a small, atmospheric pedestrian tunnel to arrive. For those who enjoy exploring beneath the surface, the rocky surroundings make it one of the best spots in the area for snorkeling. Furthermore, its western orientation makes it the premier spot in Petrovac for sundowners.

📍 Location: Zavala Peninsula, Budva

Arguably the best splurge option within reach of Budva, Dukley Beach & Bar is an elegantly manicured sanctuary defined by neutral tones, swaying banana trees, and world-class service. This is “luxury barefoot” at its finest, offering panoramic views of the Budva Old Town and the entire sweeping bay.

The experience is seamless, including premium towel service and a highly attentive staff. For those who want to stay active, you can grab a Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) directly from the shore to explore the neighboring hidden coves of the Zavala peninsula.

📍 Location: Petrovac Region

Enclosed by a lush pine forest, Lučice Beach is one of the most beautiful bays on the Budva Riviera. During peak season, it is best experienced early in the morning before the first swimmers arrive. Because the public stretch is small and fills up instantly, you are often literally forced to reserve sun loungers just to secure a spot. For those wanting more comfort, the southern end features plush, premium loungers.

The bay is excellent for snorkeling, with sea caves to explore – on the side of the Pinus Maritimum restaurant – one of which leads to a small, hidden cave beach. After your swim, you can find great dining options nestled in the natural shade of the surrounding trees.

The resort of Čanj is currently undergoing a significant facelift, with several upscale hotels expected to open soon that will bring a fresh, active energy to the area. The beach is impressively wide, with a surface that transitions from tiny shingles to larger pebbles, making it a versatile spot for both sunbathing and coastal exploration.

While it provides a great base for families, Canj truly shines as a departure point for those who want to be on the move. It is especially pleasant in the off-season, when the vast shoreline offers plenty of room for active walks and the crowds have thinned.

Famous for its striking turquoise colored waters, Kamenovo is the perfect middle ground—it feels intimate but never boring. This pebble beach is a favorite for the younger crowd and is well-known for its energetic beach parties and sunset DJ sessions. While the main area is managed, the southern end remains more rocky and wild, offering a quieter escape for those who prefer a natural setting.

Logistically, Kamenovo is one of the easiest “hidden” beaches to reach. Parking is readily available just above the beach, and it is seamlessly connected to Bečići and Budva via a scenic pedestrian tunnel. Note that because of the large pebbles and rocky seabed, water shoes are highly recommended for a comfortable swim.

Extending for almost two kilometers, Bečići Beach is one of the most popular and spacious beach resorts in Montenegro. Its long, wide shoreline is famous for its unique, perfectly smooth red pebbles (and even the occasional green one!), giving the clear water a beautiful hue. While it can feel a bit like a “package holiday” beach, it is backed by world-class luxury hotels and offers a typically clean, well-serviced environment.

The beach is a top destination for water sports and is lined with vibrant cafes and bars. It flows seamlessly into Rafailovići, a charming former fishing village renowned for its high-end seafood restaurants. A coastal promenade connects the entire bay to neighboring Budva and Kamenovo, making it perfect for long evening walks.
